Record turnover for Mellanskog – first time over five billion
Last year, Mellanskog's turnover exceeded SEK 5 billion for the first time ever. In terms of results, the forest owners' association also shows good figures for 2024.
"Mellanskog continues to deliver strong results, both for the members and the association. This gives us even better conditions to create long-term value for our members," says Fredrik Munter, CEO of Mellanskog, in a comment to the financial statements.
Sales for the year landed at SEK 5,410 million, compared with SEK 4,829 million in 2023.
Operating profit for 2024 was SEK 181 million, an increase from SEK 122 million the year before. This is mainly explained by rising sales prices, according to Mellanskog.
"For forest owners, rising wood prices have improved net felling and thus forest owner benefits. Mellanskog has also been strengthened by a good return from the association's financial portfolio," it writes in a comment.
More thinning – less volume
Mellanskog implemented four timber price increases in 2024 and timber prices are now described as record high.
High pulpwood prices have made thinning more profitable, which in turn has meant that the total harvested volume has decreased.
Total delivery volume amounted to 4,922 tm3fub, down from 5,144 tm3fub in the previous year.
Mellanskog states that it works actively for the interests of forest owners and strengthened property protection, and that this work needs to continue.
"Strong property rights make for a strong society. Now is the last chance for the government to fulfil its promises during the current term of office and achieve long-term conditions for family forestry," says Peter Helander, chairman.
