J.P. Morgan acquires 40,800 acres of timberland in Washington state

J.P. Morgan Asset Management, through its subsidiary Campbell Global, has acquired 40,800 acres of productive timberland on Washington's Olympic Peninsula, named "Tyee" in recognition of the indigenous heritage of the Cascadia region.

The newly acquired land is certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, highlighting its role in fostering responsible forestry practices. Tyee features over 360 miles of streams and diverse ecosystems critical to the region’s wildlife, including the northern spotted owl, salmon, and bald eagles. The property will serve as a model for integrated land-use practices, balancing carbon capture efforts with the production of sustainable timber products.

Campbell Global plans to manage Tyee in alignment with local community values, providing living-wage jobs and bolstering regional economies. This acquisition also enhances the company’s efforts in addressing climate change by leveraging timberland as a renewable resource for carbon storage and sustainable development.
