FSC extends blockage of Chinese bamboo plywood manufacturer until 2027 for repeated false claims
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has extended the blockage of Zhejiang Anji Double Tiger Bamboo & Wood Industry Co., Ltd. (Anji Double Tiger) and its alias, Zhejiang Anji Shuanghu Bamboo & Wood Industry Co., Ltd. (Anji Shuanghu), until July 2027. This decision follows evidence that the company engaged in repeated false claims on bamboo plywood products, despite being previously blocked by FSC in 2022. The company recertified itself under a different name and failed to disclose its certification history to the new certifying body, continuing its deceptive practices. FSC reported this in accordance with FSC Advice Note 18.
FSC's investigation revealed that the company made false zero-sales claims while continuing to use FSC certification on its products. It also obstructed the investigations of its certification body and Assurance Services International. These manipulations posed a significant threat to the FSC system's integrity. FSC confirmed that the company’s certification privileges are revoked until the blockage period expires or corrective measures are implemented. During this period, the company is prohibited from claiming FSC certification, using FSC trademarks, or participating as a contractor in FSC-certified supply chains.
