Egypt and MSC sign contract to build 250-feddan dry port and logistics zone
The Egyptian Ministry of Transport, through the Public Authority for Land and Dry Ports, has signed a contract with MEDLOG, part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), to develop the 10th of Ramadan City Dry Port and Logistics Zone. The project covers 250 feddans, with 130 acres allocated for the dry port and 120 acres for the logistics zone. The contract includes financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance, reported Daily News Egypt.
This agreement is part of Egypt’s plan to establish 32 dry ports and logistics zones nationwide, connected by seven integrated logistics corridors. The 10th of Ramadan dry port will serve urban, industrial, and agricultural zones, linking them to major seaports including Ain Sokhna, Alexandria, Damietta, and Port Said through dedicated road and rail networks, including the Rubiki / 10th of Ramadan / Belbeis rail line.
The project aims to reduce congestion at seaports, lower logistics costs, streamline customs processes, and enhance rail transport. It will also create job opportunities and reduce environmental impacts. The logistics hub will act as an extension of Egypt’s main container ports, improving connections to Greater Cairo’s consumption centers and surrounding industrial zones.
